About NerdVine

Built because the alternative wasn't working.

NerdVine exists because freelancing in the Philippines — and everywhere — has a trust problem. We built the platform we wished existed.

Our Story

Why NerdVine exists.

Freelancing should be one of the most empowering ways to work. You set your terms, choose your clients, and get paid for your expertise. In theory, it’s freedom.

In practice, it’s often the opposite. Professionals spend weeks on proposals that never get read. Clients fund projects that never get delivered. Disputes go unresolved. Reviews get gamed. And the platforms that were supposed to help have built business models that don’t actually align with either side.

NerdVine was built from a different premise: that a marketplace can be fair, structured, and accountable — if the rules are designed that way from the start.

We’re not trying to be the biggest freelance platform. We’re trying to be the most trustworthy one. That means being selective about who we let in, enforcing rules that protect both sides, and building systems that make ghosting, fraud, and retaliation structurally harder.

We started in the Philippines because that’s where we saw the problem most clearly. But the principles apply everywhere. Good work deserves fair payment. Fair payment deserves structured protection.

Core Principles

Five things we will never compromise on.

These aren’t values on a wall. They’re the rules the platform is built around.

01

Protection over speed

We will always choose the safer, more deliberate path over the faster one. Escrow before work. Vetting before access. Review before release. Speed is not the goal — safety is.

02

Fairness to both sides

Professionals are protected from non-payment. Clients are protected from non-delivery. Neither side gets special treatment. The rules apply equally.

03

Accountability over anonymity

We will always choose the safer, more deliberate path over the faster one. Escrow before work. Vetting before access. Review before release. Speed is not the goal — safety is.

04

Controlled access

We are invite-only by design. A smaller, trusted community produces better outcomes than an open marketplace where anyone can participate without accountability.

05

Transparent enforcement

When rules are broken, we say so. When disputes are resolved, we explain why. No black boxes. No arbitrary decisions. Enforcement that members can understand and trust.

+

Ongoing improvement

NerdVine is early. We will make mistakes. What we commit to is transparency about those mistakes and a genuine effort to fix them based on what our members experience.

Who We Serve

Two kinds of people. One shared standard.

NerdVine is built for professionals who are serious about their craft and businesses that respect the people they hire.

Freelancers who’ve been burned before.

You’ve done the work and not been paid. You’ve been ghosted mid-project. You’ve had your review gamed after a dispute. NerdVine was built for you.

– Developers, designers, writers, marketers

– Consultants and specialists

– People who take deadlines seriously

– Those who want to be paid without chasing

Clients who want the work done right.

You’ve hired someone and got nothing. You’ve been overcharged for under-delivery. You want five serious proposals, not five hundred. NerdVine was built for you too.

– Small and medium businesses

– Startups with real budgets

– Teams that value quality over cheapness

– Companies that pay on time, every time

What NerdVine Is Not

We made deliberate choices.

A race to the bottom

We don’t compete on lowest price. Quality professionals deserve fair rates. Clients looking for the cheapest option will find better options elsewhere.

An open marketplace

Anyone can’t just sign up. Both sides are vetted. Access is earned. The community is intentionally small and high-trust.

A passive platform

We don’t just host transactions and look away. We enforce rules, investigate disputes, and remove members who violate the community’s standards.
