NerdVine (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our members. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the NerdVine platform.
We collect only what we need, use it only for what we say, and never sell it. This is a fundamental commitment — not a legal formality.

How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
– Platform operation: To provide, maintain, and improve the NerdVine marketplace
– Account management: To create, manage, and secure your account
– Vetting and verification: To evaluate applications and verify the identity of members
– Matching: To connect professionals with relevant job postings
– Payments: To process escrow deposits, releases, and payouts
– Dispute resolution: To investigate and resolve disputes between members
– Safety and enforcement: To detect fraud, enforce our Terms, and protect the community
– Communication: To send platform notifications, updates, and support responses
– Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations
We do not use your information for targeted advertising. We do not build advertising profiles.

How We Share Information
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
– Between members: Profile information is visible to other members as necessary for the marketplace to function (e.g., a professional’s profile is visible to businesses reviewing proposals)
– Payment processors: Payment information is shared with our payment processing partners solely to process transactions
– Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government authority
– Safety: We may share information to prevent or investigate fraud, abuse, or threats to safety
– Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of NerdVine, member data may be transferred as part of the transaction, with notice provided
We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes.
Section 05
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform’s services. Upon account termination:
– Active contract and transaction records are retained for 7 years for legal and financial compliance purposes
– Dispute records are retained for 5 years
– Profile and account data is deleted within 90 days of account closure, except where retention is required by law
– Identity verification documents are deleted within 30 days of account closure
You may request deletion of your data at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.

Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:
– Encryption of data in transit using TLS
– Encryption of sensitive data at rest
– Access controls limiting who within NerdVine can access personal data
– Regular security reviews and monitoring
– Secure handling and storage of identity verification documents
No system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
– Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
– Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
– Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
– Portability: You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
– Objection: You may object to certain uses of your information
– Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time

NerdVine uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform. We use:
– Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function (login sessions, security). These cannot be disabled.

– Analytics cookies: Help us understand how the Platform is used so we can improve it
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from using the Platform.

Minors
NerdVine is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and notify active members by email for material changes.
Your continued use of the Platform after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree with the updated policy, you should close your account.
